Well, I can barely make them out as well. I don&#8217;t even think the thing is a yardstick\u2014how can it be? It measures up to 42 inches \u2013 last time I checked, a yard measured 36 inches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<div id=\"attachment_132\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-132\" class=\"size-full wp-image-132 \" title=\"The Snakeskin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.homegrownonahobbyfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blacksnake_Skin1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-132\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Skin of a Blacksnake<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Suffice to say, the snakeskin next to it is in excess of 5 feet. It was quite the find\u2014and recent too\u2014eyeholes and tail intact. He (or she) certainly wasn&#8217;t in a hurry to get out of it.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>My husband found it in a quiet corner of the barn we call \u201cthe shop.\u201d Now, years ago, I would&#8217;ve been anything but proud to show it off. Yet since moving to a farm, there are some critters I just can&#8217;t manage on my own&#8230;and those are rodents. Unfortunately, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll ever be proud to say \u201cwe have rodents!!.\u201d So, I&#8217;ll let the black snakes alone because they&#8217;re good things to have around \u2013 Great Circle of Life and all.
